An homage to Europe’s migrants

The 10-man street theatre ensemble arrives bursting with their characteristic Catalan energy and contagious presence. Kamchàtka addresses one of Europe’s currently most controversial issues – mass migration.

Every single hour of the day, 24,422 persons migrate. They flee, leave in the hope of finding a better life for themselves elsewhere. Fugit is a tribute to those with an all-consuming desire to survive and be free, but having to sacrifice everything for it. All that they know.

Kamchàtka brings us along with them on the journey. They create another reality which is both compelling and taboo breaking. The audience is led around town by the silent characters, all full of life’s wisdom. Solidarity is essential, insecurity inevitable. The city becomes a maze of backyards, alleyways, abandoned buildings and potential hiding places.

The abstract concept of escape is the focal point of this hyper realistic docudrama in no man’s land. And for a while, we can put ourselves in their shoes.
