Aneckxander is an unusually brave and raw solo, stripping off the outer layers of the artist. A self-portrait on the boundary between comedy and tragedy, where honestly and without vain displays his body and all its postures, proportions and deformations.
The complexity increases with each round, all while he struggles with a tormented and exhausted body. The invincible artist body reveals its weaknesses and fragility all while it longs for the spectators’ grace and mercy. A captivating display of the circus artist’s voluntary self-torture.
Alexander Vantournhout is the big star among the young generation of artists with numerous awards for his pioneering work. With a background as dancer from the renowned school P.A.R.T.S., he has added new dimensions to circus with his honest expressions, superior physique and invigorating lack of respect for conventions.
