Fragan Gehlker plays with circus’ ultimate consequence: the fatal fall into the void. As an artist he is radical, uncompromising and one of the most skillful. Each night he challenges himself to the extreme, putting the audience on tenterhooks, while he crawls around under the 12-meter high ceiling without safety net.

Albert Camus’ Myth of Sisyphus is the background of the tale. The seemingly pointless repetition of an act. Here Sisyphus’ mountain is replaced by ropes, which need to be climbed. But each step forward is a step backward. The infinity of repetition. The living conditions for every circus artist striving for virtuosity. Or the conditions for all of us?

On stage is violinist Alexis Auffray, nine ropes, a pile of foam mats and a scratching tape recorder. A minimalistic set-up for a magnificent circus tale that is a kick in the guts. Each performance is a new attempt to catch the void, seize the moment – and conquer the absurd.
