A journey into the city’s multifaceted soul

The Walking City is a four-hour immersion in the city. A hypnotic walk through a city we may think we know, but whose soul grows larger and deeper the longer we wander. Like a real-life fable, it reveals aspects of city life we have never met before.

We follow in the footsteps of some of the city’s residents. They are silent, just walking. Like shadows, we linger behind as they lead us deeper into the city’s landscapes.

The Walking City is inspired by a Japanese manga by Jiro Taniguchi. Over a four-hour stretch, we follow image after image, place after place, from the center to the outskirts.

A warehouse of colonial wealth, clusters of tourists, sunbathing bodies, high-value real estate developments, ever-expanding islands, mountain trails among the chimneys. Different temporalities and geographies intermingle, while a call to rebellion comes from the sea like a distant, seductive song.

We meet people in the city we do not know. Slowly, we become more and more entwined in a fascinating reality of life and destinies. The world opens up from unknown perspectives. This is how the city looks to some of its other inhabitants.

Interview with the artists in Copenhagen:

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

DOM – was founded in 2013 by the artists Leonardo Delogu and Valerio Sirna. They explore performance art in a broader perspective and aim to challenge the dominant power structures and trends that have brought humanity and the planet to this ‘tipping point’.

With inspiration from movements within eco-feminisms, queer ecologies, and art workers, they investigate the relationships between human bodies and landscapes, focusing on how power structures, nature, and marginalization interact in public space. They listen to the voices that already exist – human, non-human, weather, myths… – to create unique, often hybrid formats between performance, workshop, walk, sound, and festival.

Their works are presented across Europe and have won numerous awards.
